Privacy Policy

1) Summary of how we handle data

• Local-first: By default, your results are saved in your browser (localStorage).
• Minimal server data: We keep basic HTTP logs for security and operations.
• On-chain proofs: If you anchor a proof, only a hash of your content is written on-chain; the transaction is public and permanent.
• Third parties: We use Anthropic (AI) and Helius (Solana RPC).
• No ads; no sale of personal data.

2) Information we process

2.1 Data you submit

Topics, cases (title, category, targets, evidence links, description), comparison inputs (A vs B), and any prompts you send to the console.

Optional payloads pasted into verification tools.

Storage: For the MVP, outputs persist client-side in your browser's localStorage unless you clear them. We do not operate a user account database.

2.2 Technical data

HTTP logs: IP address, user-agent, timestamps, request path/status, and error diagnostics—retained for security, abuse prevention, and reliability.

Cookies: We use only essential cookies required for site operation. We do not use marketing cookies.

2.3 Third-party processing

• Anthropic (AI): When you request a judgment/analysis, your prompt and metadata are sent to Anthropic to generate the result.
• Helius (Solana RPC): When you anchor or verify a proof, requests are made to Solana via Helius RPC.
• Hosting/CDN: Standard request logs and error traces may be processed by our hosting and CDN providers.

3) Purposes of processing

• Provide, operate, and improve the Service.
• Prevent abuse, ensure security and reliability.
• Comply with legal obligations.

4) On-chain proofs & transparency

When you click Anchor On-Chain, we canonicalize your result (stable JSON), compute a SHA-256 hash, and submit a Memo transaction (e.g., judgment:<sha256>) from a service key controlled by Arete.

Only the hash goes on-chain; no raw content is written to the blockchain.

Blockchain transactions are public and permanent; do not anchor content you consider sensitive.

5) Data retention

• LocalStorage (browser): Persists until you clear your browser data or remove items in the UI.
• Server logs: Retained up to 30 days unless needed longer for security/investigations.
• On-chain memos: Permanent by design (outside our control).

6) Security

HTTPS in transit; limited server-side data; environment-scoped keys; "service" signing key for Memo holds minimal SOL and can be rotated.

No system is perfectly secure; use at your own risk.

7) Your choices & rights

• Delete local results: Clear your browser's storage or use UI controls where provided.
• Do not anchor: If you don't want a public on-chain footprint, simply don't click Anchor On-Chain.
• Access/Deletion/Correction: You may request access to or deletion/correction of any server-side personal data we hold (typically limited to logs) by emailing privacy@arete.sh. We will reasonably verify and respond consistent with applicable U.S. law.
• Do-Not-Track: We do not respond to DNT signals.

8) Children

The Service is not intended for children under 16. Do not use the Service if you are under 16.

9) International users

The Service is operated from the United States. If you access it from other regions, you consent to processing in the U.S., which may have different data protection laws than your jurisdiction.

10) Sharing & transfers

We do not sell personal data. We may share limited information with service providers (e.g., Anthropic, Helius, hosting/CDN) to operate the Service, or as required by law, to protect rights/safety, or in a corporate transaction (e.g., merger, acquisition).

11) Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. The "Effective Date" above shows the latest revision. Material changes will be announced on the site.
